You don’t need to live in the gym to get results.
If you have a job, a family and a life outside of fitness, spending 1 to 2 hours in the gym multiple days a week probably isn’t realistic.
It’s also completely unnecessary.
Instead I suggest performing a smaller number of effective exercises. Use challenging weights, control every rep and take your working sets close to technical failure (the point where you can’t complete another good quality rep without your technique breaking down).
Your goal shouldn’t be to make every workout exhausting, it should be to provide enough stimulus for your muscles to adapt and become stronger.
For the vast majority, two well-planned full-body sessions each week are enough to build strength and maintain muscle, while leaving time for leaving else in your life that matters.
However, this approach will only work if you adopt a progressive approach.
Track your workouts and aim to add a rep, increase the weight, (or ideally a bit of both)without changing your form.
Two focused full body sessions per week.
Real effort.
Progression.
Adequate recovery.
Plenty of movement outside the gym.
