I’m a big fan of log booking every workout…
Your log book can be your friend, it can help keep you accountable to yourself, it can help keep you focused/on track, and it can help give you feedback if your progress starts to stall…
However, in order to examine your numbers accurately you (ideally)need to control the variables:
If you train on a different day/at a different time…
If you didn’t sleep well the night before…
If you ate more or less before training…
If you drank more or less water…
Ladies: If it’s the time of the month…
If you stressed with work, family, or life in general!
ALL of the above will affect your training, and life WILL get in the way, it’s inevitable. The key is to be mindful of how & why it plays a part in your progress.
Adding more stress to your workouts by focusing purely 100% on your numbers, without any other context, will do nothing but bring you even further from achieving your goals.
Something will always beat nothing, even if it’s not an ‘all time PB’.
Do what you can, when you can.
