Nike wasn’t always Nike…
I was listening to a podcast this morning whilst out walking Dexter, and the topic of the branding & marketing success of Nike came up…
A couple of things really jumped out at me:
Nike wasn’t always Nike, it was originally ‘Blue Ribbon Sports’.
Heard of it? No, me neither!
I also learnt that a lady called Carol was responsible for designing the Nike ‘swoosh’ back in 1971, which is obviously now one of THE most famous & recognisable logos in the world!
At the time Carol was charging 2 dollars an hour for her work, apparently her work took 17.5 hours, so her total fee for designed the now literally world famous logo was a total of 35 dollars (about £29)!!!
INSANE!
At the time Carol was a design student simply looking for some extra cash, fast forward to 2020 and she now has a ‘generous’ amount of stock in Nike (reportedly now worth over a million dollars)!
I’m sharing this because we are all often guilty of seeing the end result without seeing all the hard work that has gone into achieving that result.
There really is no such thing as an overnight success!
True, long lasting results take time, patience & consistency.
Thats all for today, have good day, have a good workout, have a good week!
